BELMONT — Six New Hampshire girls basketball teams ranging from the Seacoast to the Connecticut River will converge for a preseason jamboree at Belmont High School on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Besides the host Red Raiders, teams include the six-time Division 2 champion Hanover Bears, the Inter-Lakes Lakers, the Mascoma Royals, the Newport Tigers, and the Portsmouth Christian Academy Eagles.

“We’re honored to host these teams from across three of the state’s four basketball divisions,” said Belmont Girls Varsity Coach Roger Carroll. “It’s a great opportunity for all the teams to go up against a variety of competition and prepare our players for the start of the regular season.”

The first game tips off at 9 a.m., when Belmont and Newport square off. Each team will play three 40-minute games, and will also have an opportunity to run a practice between games at the nearby Belmont Middle School.

Day passes will be sold at the door, and an assortment of food will be available.

“We’ve gotten terrific support from local businesses and our basketball families, who are running the concession stand featuring Brookside Pizza, hot dogs, and a variety of drinks and crock-pot dishes,” Carroll said. “We hope basketball fans will join us for what promises to be a fun day for athletes and spectators alike.
