SANBORNTON — Join the Sanbornton Public Library for a fall event as they host Linda Orsi Robinson on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m. Robinson, an author and a midwife, will present Trials and Triumphs of a Midwife in Malawi, and beyond.

Robinson, a nurse-midwife, spent 2007-2008 working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with Doctors Without Borders. She will share insights about foreign aid and policy, how local actions contribute to the world stage, and how women and children are affected differently from men. The presentation will include a brief history of what led to the conflict, efforts to bring medical care, and her experience as a humanitarian worker.

She wrote letters home each Sunday morning. Her book, 'Sunday Morning, Shamwana: A Midwife’s Letters from the Field,' was written from a compilation of these letters. It provides an account of the day-to-day reality of a fieldworker in the African bush, working with an international aid organization.

This program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be offered at 6:30 p.m. For more information, visit splnh.com, or call 603-286-8288.
