ASHLAND — Fifteen Ashland Elementary School students participated in the school’s first ever Fun Run Club this fall. The program took place twice a week over the course of four weeks. Participating students developed their recreational and competitive running skills at each session. Activities included strength, endurance, and speed-building exercises, long and short distance intramural races, and running-based games.
Several Fun Run Club members competed in the Runaway Pumpkin races in Laconia on Saturday, Oct. 16 as a culminating event to showcase their training efforts. Jaxson Francis, Monroe Farris, and Carter Stevens competed in the 5K race. Kain Perdue and Kylee Freeman competed in the Kids Fun Run. Additionally, AES students Johnathan Heath, Blair Farris, and River Farris also participated in the races. Fun Run Club member Louis Zumbach, as well as brothers Wade Zumbach and Brooks Zumbach, competed in the Fall Foliage 5K in Waterville Valley on Sunday, Oct. 10.Â
