BELMONT — More than 20 Watts Water Technologies employees received their advanced manufacturing certificates from Lakes Region Community College recently. The Franklin-based employees completed a 15-month-long program where a LRCC instructor conducted classes onsite at Watts’ manufacturing facility in Franklin.

Upon completing the program, at least six graduates were promoted at Watts to work on new machines that require the advanced skills training. In May 2016, Watts matched a $55,000 grant from the New Hampshire Job Training Fund to provide high skill training for its employees. The program is part of Watts and its partners’ efforts to encourage careers in high tech manufacturing. The manufacturing industry makes up about 19 percent of New Hampshire’s economy and the demand for skilled workers is high.

The certificates were presented to the graduates at an assembly at Watts Water Technologies attended by Tony Giunta, Mayor of Franklin; Ken Merrifield, NH Commissioner of Labor; Alan Punches, LRCC Vice President for Academic and Community Affairs; Will Arvelo, New Hampshire Division Director for Economics and Development; and Watts Executives and graduates.
