To The Daily Sun,

As a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Marine Corps, I have been stationed around our nation and the world working to protect and defend the Constitution. Serving my fellow Granite Staters — whether in uniform or in my community — is a responsibility I take seriously. Veterans understand the duty we have to give back and fight for each other long after military service is completed.

Yet too often, that duty is not matched by leaders in Washington. Today, far too many veterans are left without stable housing. The crisis of unhoused veterans is unacceptable, yet Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans have repeatedly put corporate interests ahead of the men and women who risked their lives defending our nation. It should never fall to nonprofits or the public to provide roofs over the heads of veterans.

Congressman Chris Pappas has proven he will not let up the fight for Granite State veterans. A member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, he fights to hold the VA accountable for mismanagement, including recent errors that placed thousands of veterans’ homes at risk of foreclosure. He worked to pass the PACT Act, expanded access to care, and continues to push for improvements here in New Hampshire.

Chris Pappas knows that honoring veterans requires action, not empty promises. He has delivered results in Congress, and I am confident he will continue fighting tirelessly for Granite State veterans as our next U.S. senator.
