To The Daily Sun,
Here on Tuesday morning, Aug. 25, we learn the Taliban will not extend the deadline for Americans to leave Afghanistan (31st is it). Mr. Biden had floated the idea of extending that deadline, but apparently the Taliban is not very impressed with the idea. Or could it be with Mr. Biden himself?
So either way, after expressing threats of retaliation, the terrorists got their way again. Also, no Afghans will be allowed to leave. The airport is sealed off apparently now. Can you guess what is in store for all those Afghan solders, government workers their families? I can, and I listed them in a letter to the editor here in The Sun awhile ago that wasn't deemed acceptable to print.
I also must note a few weeks ago a writer here accused me of being uninformed, bigoted and Islamophobic, I think it was, and I sense the Taliban is one of the many terrorists organizations like Hamas and ISIS that writer may want to reconsider her opinion of my knowledge?
Having written a rebuttal to that writer which also was not worthy of printing, perhaps recent events might shed new light into The Sun's editorial staff's thinking too? One can hope.
Back on subject, concerns are being raised that because only 4,407 Americans (about a quarter or a third) of our people have cleared there, time could run out for many of them. Not an impossible task if there are no glitches, but given how this has been handled up to now we can't count on that. Worrisome is that our officials in DC are evading answering direct question regarding numbers of Americans still there even from the likes of CNN, ABC, CBS etc.
This still disregards possible obstruction by the Taliban itself. We have seen clearly how they regard agreements, treaties or their given words.
We can now, here on Thursday the 26th, know the deaths have started in Afghanistan. Twelve U.S. Marines are dead, along with 60 Afghan civilians and many many wounded. Making deals with terrorists invites more terrorism not less. Trusting a terrorist's word is the height of stupidly. Not learning from history is criminal, and electing those who refuse to learn is insane.
