To The Daily Sun,

Over the last couple or three weeks some letter writers have felt it is their job to condemn other citizens regarding the choice over taking or not taking the vaccine shots. How about leaving other adults alone to decide for themselves instead of the heavy handed guilt trips being pressured?

Full disclosure, both my wife and I chose to take the two-shot vaccines, but we are in our late 70s with preexisting conditions, so we chose.

Problem is there has been no clear message from our government at any level giving clear facts one way or the other. Dr. Fauci has flipped around more than a flounder in the bottom of a fishing boat on masks, vaccines and all else. There are no clear numbers such as how many currently hospitalized with the flu have or have not received the vaccine, which vaccine works best. What we get are mixed messages depending on the latest political stories being pushed by one "expert" or politician or media authority. The last thing we need is any self-appointed local letter writers deciding who should do what.

In a related issue, a plan by the Biden administration to send agents door to door to inquire if folks have taken shots or not isn't something I would support. Once again there is that flounder in the boat, and it's the same with masks. No school board should be telling parents their child can't go to school either with or without a mask. Boards are not qualified to sift through all the contradictory claims being pushed and know what is what.

CDC appears to be as much a political agency as it is a medical one. I sure don't trust it anymore, but that's just me, and any board that does trust it is throwing the dice. Let parents decide, if they want their child to mask, up fine, if not fine.

On a loosely related but significant event, the Taliban is running amuck again in Afghanistan. Biden is blaming Trump, but he's the one supposed to be in charge and looks like he's running full steam away from that issue. Symptomatic of the Dem's current ideology you ask? Could be.

whoIt's astonishing that vaccinated people that are protected are advocating for people not to mask up or get vaccinated if they don't feel like it. That is dangerously irresponsible and absurd. If one cares about other people and the nation, one doesn't get that preposterous. They could get really sick or die or infect someone who gets sick or dies but to the extremists of the right, being a walking virus factory shedding millions of coronaviruses in public is okay because of their bizarre and unintelligible interpretation of what freedom means.

If the decision to not get vaccinated only affected you & yours, I doubt anyone would care so much. As it stands, however, it does! If you think they're "flip-flopping", you don't understand science... and that's fine. But, if you don't understand science, perhaps it's best to pay attention to those that do! Biden is "blaming" the former potus because the former potus made a deal with the Taliban to remove all of our troops by May 2021 - a full 2 months earlier! (I thought we didn't negotiate with terrorists?) If Biden refused to honor the former presidents deal, it would've just been worse!

Hawaii has had mandatory indoor-outdoor mask requirements since the pandemic began. They have had 8536 new cases of covid in just the past 14 days. Shove your masks.

Updated news flash. "Blue surgical masks only 10% effective"

No, Dr. Fauci hasn't flip-flopped on recommendations, he has adjusted as the science dictates and for someone to repeat some of the nonsense that has been floating around on social media sites or nutjobs like Majorie Taylor Greene regarding Biden sending government officials door to door to inquire about vaccine status is plan BS.

I would be fine if it was the flu and someone didn't want to take their flu shot, but this is much different, and deadly virus killing many more people; and now with the Delta Variant surging it is not only killing unvaccinated people but breaking through to vaccinated people.

This has turned into a Pandemic of the unvaccinated, and it is causing COVID infections, hospitalizations and deaths to rise, but if left unabated due to unvaccinated could result in a mutation of another variant not preventable by the current vaccines.

I know you can't mandate vaccines, but mandating Mask wearing in schools and closed buildings should be mandatory; because I know people who are not vaccinated are also the ones against wearing mask, and I don't care if they kill themselves, but when you put my life or families life at risk, then I care.

Your ideas sit well with states like Florida and Texas, that seems to be working out real's called public health and personal responsibility, if people won't make the choice to help end this pandemic, than maybe the government has to step in, with you views, we would still have Polio still crippling this country.

Ah, C, not to turn this into a debate, but, a couple things. First, re: "the science", never in human history has a so-called 'viral contagion' ever been shown by science to, scientifically, which means in a scientific paper, any scientific paper, ever, to have transmitted said viral contagion to another human. Inconveniently, perhaps, but there is that pesky science. Something oft referred to, in science, as the 'gold standard', in scientific research to prove causative contagious transmission is Koch's Postulates. Inconveniently, again, this means there exists zero, nada proof of any contagious virus. So regardless of what Lord Faucci says, ever, there are no contagious viruses. So, not only is the fine 'doctor' full of, whatever, this goes the same for HIV, Yellow Fever, Rubella, mumps, measles, small box, etc. As far as science knows, this would rule out the Black Plague". C, this is not "much different", it's an oldie. All of this is brought to us by the same folks that promised us over and over again that there were "weapons of mass destruction in Iraq". Woops.

Vaccines can be mandated at a state, county, city, and town level. But not federally. The case that supports this is a Supreme Court case from 1905, Massachusetts V Jacobson. Last week the Supreme Court followed this precedent and refused to interfere with Indiana University's vaccination mandate for students and employees. As I wrote in my recent letter, if people don't walk up, vaccine mandates will sweep the nation.
