A recent sudden and serious illness necessitated calling 911 for an emergency ambulance to Concord Hospital-Laconia. The service provided by the Laconia Fire Department EMTs was impressive. They arrived within minutes and transported me to the ER with great skill.
Upon entering the ER, I was quickly evaluated and treated. The ER doctor and nurses recognized the urgency of the situation and together with the technicians performed in a well-coordinated manner a multitude of tests to determine the cause and proper treatment. My hospitalist doctor consulted with my family and me and directed the course of treatment. At discharge the staff initiated a follow-up appointment with my PCP and seamlessly made sure I was properly put on the road to recovery. As my PCP said, my speedy recovery was a result of the right actions taken within hours, not days. Without this my results could have been very different.
We are very fortunate to have the Laconia Fire Department and Concord Hospital-Laconia.
