To The Daily Sun,

Whoops, we did it again. (Apologies to some pop singer.)

Like sands through the hourglass of time, the voters of Gilford approved every single expenditure on this year's warrant articles.

Pardon the repetition as I wrote almost the same letter last year. I guess that next year I could just write: see last year’s letter.

Is there nothing in Gilford that isn’t essential and thus no way to, I don’t know, reduce spending?

Is there no proposed spending increase that might have a single “no” vote from the selectboard or budget committee?

I hear that our increasing school budget along with our decreasing school enrollment and bloated administration is fairly common in New Hampshire. That doesn’t mean that the students’ performance has improved, though.

Oh, the only article that didn’t pass was an attempt by a family to follow proper procedures to vacate a covenant that prevented them from subdividing the land that they own. Seriously? What higher purpose is served by undercutting the wishes of the current owners?

See everyone next year.
