To The Daily Sun,

I hate to “burst MAGA’s bubble,” but Mr. Charlie Kirk’s statements regarding America’s government are opinions, not “truths.” In fact, I would argue that his opinions contradict many principles that our founding fathers and even the bible railed against.

America was founded on the principle of a separation between church and state. This principle has been upheld by the Supreme Court on multiple occasions. America is not a Christian nation. People of many diverse cultures and religions should be able to practice their religion (or not practice) freely in America without judgment.

Another issue that has been discussed, is Mr. Kirk’s passion for “freedom of speech.” Having a president who decides who should be prosecuted and who should be “canceled” does not allow opinions from dissenting citizens.

Being Jewish, in our Torah, God states, “Love thy neighbor as yourself,” and “Be kind to the strangers in your land, as you were once strangers in Egypt.” Sending ICE troops to terrorize our neighbors who do not look like us, does not fit with Jesus’ teachings, or the history of America’s investment in diversity and immigration.

Finally, many MAGA supporters have created a conspiracy theory that “they”  — people with anti-MAGA views — shot and killed Charlie Kirk. We do not have a clear motive for why this lone gunman shot Mr. Kirk. The shooter most likely was not an ideologue, but rather a confused, isolated, misunderstood individual who had easy access to guns. He was not recruited by “antifa" to shoot and kill. Rather it was his own demons that caused him to perform this terrible crime.
