Marc Abear: Sweden election reminds Americans to ponder the future

The leftist parties in Sweden narrowly grabbed control of their parliament, supplanting the serving conservative majority. Data shows their victory came as a result of the votes of the 1 million or so Muslims who have immigrated to Sweden over the decades; they’re now voters and they vote left.

The AFP and Reuters report, the new leftist Prime Minister, Ms. Magdalena Andersson said, things are going to change under her leadership. She told the Muslims, “In recent times, there are those who have not felt welcome in our country [our immigrants]. To you, I want to say this: This is now a new era. That is what the Swedish people have voted for.”

Ms. Andersson’s victory came by a 25,000 vote margin nationwide. That is the difference between the leftists and conservatives. It came down to those 1 million or so Muslims who voted. Meaning the Muslims … they are the Swedish people now. They are the political kingmakers. They are in charge. Not ethnic Swedes.

This election in Sweden serves as a sobering reminder, we really are living in a time of great change, of revolution. It’s undeniable if readers are paying attention. It’s time to think long and hard about how to live and thrive in this time. Odds are, we’re not getting back the America many of us remember anytime soon.
