Lynn Rudmin Chong: January’s NH Statehouse ‘ICE OUT’ protest in Concord

Last (frigid-temps) day of January, hundreds gathered at New Hampshire Statehouse plaza for signs-holding. Predominantly: ICE OUT. We're not in Minnesota or Maine, but care. We recognize Gestapo tactics as ICE agents break down doors, detain people (especially if Mexican-"colored" or Somali like Congresswoman Omar Ilhan), rough up people, out-number their victims. Without justification — shoot-to-kill: Renee Good and Alex Pretti. All this bad while masked and minus legally-required, personal warrants.

At Homeland Security D.C. headquarters, Secretary Kristi Noem, brain wiped out by whatever toxic President Donald Trump offered when he elevated her beyond her competency to be Secretary overseeing ICE, doesn't recognize how her agents behave badly, unlawfully.

Saturday's speaker with us — a 97-year-old Holocaust survivor. She is the first woman to have a Ph.D. from MIT. Not spending speaking time on Holocaust experience, she warned us about ICE's being like Hitler's Gestapo. Her reason for her and her granddaughter's presence: we must not accept and fold to the Gestapo tactics of ICE. Romanticizing the past (and white supremacy) , some Trump-goals pre-date World War II. That history gap of his may explain his failure to get the importance of NATO, to our loss.
