Leonard Witt: Republicans, Democrats, independents can save America

A recent UNH poll showed nearly 70% of New Hampshirites disapproved of President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, the entire Republican establishment here in New Hampshire supports him.

We have a president whose war in Iran caused record-breaking fuel prices.

To try to rectify the problem, he made a deal with the Russians to sell us diesel fuel. These are the same Russians who are supplying Iran with weapons used to kill American military members. Now the Russians will have billions of U.S. dollars to build more weapons for Iran to kill more Americans, all in a war Trump started.

In May, a Russian oligarch spent hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding reception in the Bahamas. Donald Jr. and Bettina Trump confirmed the gift, adding, “It was an extraordinarily generous wedding gift from a friend, and ... we were and remain incredibly grateful.” What would happen to any of us if we received hundreds of thousands of dollars from a Russian tied to Vladimir Putin?

Recently at a rally, Trump suggested that the Iranian government “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego, threatening more than 10 million Americans. The Nebraska crowd applauded.

Maybe they failed to realize its treasonous overtones. Plus more than 30% of voters in Los Angeles and San Diego voted for Trump. Apparently they, too, are expendable.

It’s hard to tell how many of those California Trump supporters still back him, but we know that nationally a hardcore 30% still does.

On Nov. 3, the other 70% (independents, Republicans and Democrats) should seriously consider voting the Trump enablers out of office. Doing so would start the national healing needed and desired by the majority of Americans nationwide, from New Hampshire, to California.
