Kim Johnson: Will work across the aisle to solve issues in Concord for Carroll County

I am Kim Johnson, candidate for New Hampshire state representative, Carroll County District 3, representing Moultonborough, Madison and Tamworth. I am an 18-year resident of Moultonborough, and we are currently raising our family here. My children are receiving an excellent education from our public schools and have always had amazing teachers and opportunities. I spent time in the summers in Moultonborough and graduated from the University of New Hampshire which cemented my love for NH and especially the Lakes Region. My interest in NH state government began after the “divisive concepts” legislation passed. It concerned me greatly that NH was passing legislation which limited teachers to what they could teach about history and the world as it is today. Also, the school voucher program currently diverts state tax dollars to private and religious schools and to home schooling families without any oversight. I believe in school choice, but the fact that this program has ballooned to tens of millions over budget with the current Legislature is unacceptable. Also, driven by the fact that I have teenage daughters, I trust women to make decisions when it comes to their reproductive health. Any health care decisions, reproductive or otherwise should be between a woman and her doctor. Reproductive rights extend to contraception and IVF treatment. I would have no children to talk about here if my husband and I had not had access to IVF. I have spent most of my career in sales working on transactions to create a positive solution for parties on both sides of an issue. I would like to use my professional skills to work across the aisle to solve issues in Concord that affect not only my district, but the entire state.
