Jon Paul: Both political parties need to focus on the critical issues

The cowardly assassination of Charlie Kirk should be a big wake-up call for everyone. In light of this, both political parties should be purging radical actors from within their ranks, whether it's Antifa, Proud Boys, or any other hate groups. If a person's core beliefs are: violence as a tool or negotiation tactic; opposition to all forms of capitalism; rioting because of perceived injustice; embracing a completely open national border; rejection of religion, and those who practice it and rejection of all law enforcement, then they are not a Democrat or a Republican, they are anarchists. Today, I believe that both parties should be working toward: lowering inflation; making housing affordable; reducing prescription and health care costs; increasing Social Security cost of living adjustments; improving Medicare and Veterans Administration benefits; reproductive health; workers rights and job safety; all civil rights; religious freedom; immigration reform; energy independence; environmental protection and maintaining the greatest military in the world.

Anarchists, neo-nazis, agitators and communists have no place in democracy. The truth is that independent voters determine elections, whichever party sways their vote wins. The Democratic Party should be asking the American public what is important to them, and not telling us which pronoun to use when addressing another person. The Republican Party should be demonstrating that they are not going down an autocratic rabbit hole and actually have a clue on fixing the economy.

It’s a long way till the midterms. May the best party win.
