Janan & Wes Hays: Reelecting Rep Tom Ploszaj for Belknap County District 1

Tom Ploszaj has served our towns well for six years. He votes based upon the input and instructions from residents and their selectboards that he represents. He is a seasoned legislator with a 100% roll call attendance, which means he is ensuring the residents of Center Harbor and New Hampton are being heard at the state level on each and every issue. Tom Ploszaj has shown he is committed to keep costs down, safeguard our freedoms, protect our children and, preserve the beauty of NH. He signed a No Tax pledge opposing a sales or income tax, voted to cut taxes and un-needed regulations; improve education; protect parental rights; protect girls’ spaces from biological males; protect girls’ sports and, protect NH’s environment and water quality. Tom has an A rating with the NRA to protect our Second Amendment rights.

We have concerns that his opponent, Amber Schaefer, may be a partisan candidate. Schaefer was vice chair of the local Democratic Party. She did not take the No Tax pledge. Her answers in the 2026 Citizens Count survey reveal she wants to bring back the Interest and Dividends Tax. She’s against lowering the Business Enterprise and Business Profits Tax saying, “multinational, billion-dollar corporations don’t need a tax break,” even though majority of NH businesses are small, locally-owned sole proprietorships who become crippled by high business taxes. She’s against protecting girls’ spaces from biological males, will not commit to protect our Second Amendment rights and won’t commit to proof of citizenship for voters. We believe she will vote with her party 100% of the time, even if in opposition of the wishes of the residents of Center Harbor and New Hampton.

A vote for Tom Ploszaj is a vote for the common sense, independent voice our towns need.
