To The Daily Sun,

I wanted to personally invite our community partners, family caregivers, professional caregivers, political advocates/ representatives and public to our screening of Call To Care N.H.

Eventually we’ll all need support and services from direct-care workers. With New Hampshire being one of the states with a growing aging population we as a community need to brainstorm together to help find a solution to the shortage of staff to fulfill these positions. Direct-care workers provide 70 to 80 percent of hands-on assistance but very few workers are entering into this career choice. As more of us are living longer we are finding the demand for direct care workers is growing faster than the supply. Some families are unable to find care or may have a long wait time for services they have an immediate need for.

There are many misconceptions about direct-care workers and our 30 minute movie viewing of, “Call To Care N.H.”, will give you a glimpse of some of the struggles direct care workers are experiencing. After the movie viewing we will have a public discussion and invite you to help us brainstorm for the future.

Please join us at Visiting Angels, 401 Gilford Avenue, Unit 208, Gilford, on Friday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. until noon at Gilford Professional Park, across from Franklin Savings Bank. RSVP to 603-366-1993 or email visitingangelsnh@comcast.net.
