To The Daily Sun,

I would suggest political advertising be limited to 90 days prior to the election. I am so tired of hearing the candidates promises when I know the office for which they are running do not have line item veto power. Not one candidate has outlined their plans. We all know there are riders for special interests tacked on bills and if the governor vetoes a bill because of a rider the candidate had promised would not happen, it will go back to the Legislature and possibly overridden. Yes, Mrs. Kelly Ayotte, our abortion law could change.

We also know the price of housing is not determined by the seller alone. Realtors' commissions, the financial background of the buyers, and the location are also factors. For new construction, materials, zoning restrictions, and the impact on taxes from the selling prices of homes in the recent months also impact the cost of housing. When Mrs. Joyce Craig builds her houses in this state, we have no legislation to protect renters and buyers protecting them from out-of-state LLCs from buying them at the lower price and then jacking the price to unaffordable for the lower income earners for whom the newly constructed homes were intended. Pictures put online through MLS are simply false advertising. The pictures make an affordable priced home look really great but actually those pictures are lies rather than accurate representations of what buyers are getting. Today, the buyer does not negotiate a price but bids for the home they want.

Candidates shouldn't promise me what they’ll do when elected, tell me how they intend to accomplish it. They may get elected but their promises can be thwarted by the Legislature or other outside influences. Let’s be honest it they want my vote. Transparency matters.
