When and who declared that warring parties had to feed the other sides’ people? It’s a ridiculous idea.
Is Russia feeding the Ukrainians or visa versa? Did the U.S. feed the Germans and Japanese during World War II? No.
Why does Israel have this obligation that no other country has?
Hamas started this war by attacking Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, and killing over 1,200 Israelis (mostly civilians). Surveys indicate that the Gazan people supported the attacks (tinyurl.com/4duj4yu5). Gazan civilians joined in the attacks. Some attackers not only bragged to but received praise from their parents for killing Israelis, including civilians.
Hamas promises more Oct. 7-like attacks. The Hamas Charter (tinyurl.com/yrhpshtt) states a religious obligation to destroy Israel.
Hamas cleverly parlayed the suffering it causes into worldwide sympathy. Hamas counts on weak Western leaders, fearful of the Islamists they let into their countries, to force Israel to feed Gazans and let Hamas survive to attack Israel again, causing more suffering on both sides.
Hamas was elected and is kept in power by Gazans who support them, hide them, and provide their children to fight and be suicide bombers for them. Whatever Gazan suffering exists is enabled by the Gazans themselves.
But, are there really starving Gazans? We’ve seen photos of starving people, e.g., in Dachau, the only people photographed in Gaza suffering like that are the people that Hamas kidnapped.
Even if Gazans were starving, that’s Hamas’ responsibility. Hamas can end the suffering immediately, but Hamas apparently doesn’t care if its people suffer.
The sooner Hamas is destroyed, the sooner Gazans and Israelis will get immediate and long term relief.
