(NAPSI)—Good news for educators and parents: There’s an effective way to help students connect the real world to classroom learning while discovering career skills—and it’s free.
Why That’s Needed
According to Education Insights Report 2025, 67% of students worry that education isn’t evolving to meet workforce needs, yet 70% say career exploration is critical to their success.
Who Can Help
That’s where the STEM Careers Coalition comes in. It’s an alliance of industries and non-profit organizations that, partnered with edtech leader Discovery Education, are committed to preparing students for future careers and workforce success. Coalition partners contribute content and expertise that connects learning to real-world experiences and opportunities. The STEM Careers Coalition expands student impact and build a stronger, more career-ready generation by providing more than 15 million students with free access to STEM resources and career connections since its founding in 2019.
How It Works
The STEM Career Coalition connects classrooms with industry at scale, supporting access to education and empowering all students with skills, experiences, and resources to inspire career exploration and foster career readiness to help prepare a future-ready workforce. By delivering timely, relevant content and real-world career readiness tools, it empowers the next generation of innovators, creators, and leaders to pursue meaningful pathways across a wide range of in-demand fields.
Various resources help students find out about new careers and discover how classroom learning connects to real-world possibilities.
For example, in Operation Communication, a new immersive game from the STEM Careers Coalition, students in grades 6-12 experience a day in the life of an employee in a simulated workplace, navigating production schedules, team dynamics, and customer satisfaction. Players practice a wide range of active skills with a focus on effective communication in the workplace to keep the production line running smoothly and create happy customers. Students can then use the new Career Finder tool to explore career pathways based on their interests.
In addition, the STEM Careers Coalition offers a collection of career profile videos spotlighting engineering professionals in STEM. Students can easily make the link between classrooms and careers with the videos and accompanying lessons, activities, and hands-on student activations.
