SALEM — Multiple sources have confirmed the suspect in the Brown University shooting — Claudio Neves Valente, 48, a Brown student and Portuguese national, whose last known address was in Miami — was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a storage facility on Hampshire Road in Salem, very close to the Methuen, Massachusetts, border.
The scene is now being processed by the FBI–Boston and multiple other agencies.
Federal agents had converged on a storage facility on Hampshire Road as reports that an abandoned car was found with a license plate believed to be connected to the Brown University shooting suspect.
Police from several agencies were seen at Extra Space Storage, 10 Hampshire Road, Thursday night.
Two students were killed and nine others injured in the Brown University shooting on Dec. 13. A person of interest was quickly identified, then released as the shooter remained at large.
CNN reports authorities are looking into a possible connection between the Brown University shooting and the fatal shooting of MIT professor Nuno F.G. Loureiro on Dec. 16 at his Massachusetts home.
