MEREDITH — Paramedics from Stewart's Ambulance Service helped bring a life into the world Tuesday morning, when a new mother gave birth to a baby boy along Route 104.

“A baby boy was born with ambulance assistance, although Mom did do all the work,” said Stacey Meier, who is the clinical director for Stewart's Ambulance. “Everyone was happy and healthy, and delivered to the hospital.”

Meier said the delivery took place in the early morning, with the baby being born just moments after Stewart's staff arrived.

“Right as we pulled up, luckily they were there to catch, and everyone is doing fine,” Meier said.

Meier said the mother and child were taken to Concord Hospital-Concord.

Meier expects the EMTs will be receiving “stork pins,” and noted this would not be the first for the lead paramedic. The pins are given out to emergency medical service employees who assist in a birth in a location away from a hospital.
