LACONIA — The city’s school board will meet for its first public meeting of the calendar year at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the district office at 39 Harvard St.

The meeting will feature a donation to the district’s playground campaign, which renewed the outdoor play areas at all three elementary schools, as well as an update from the committee overseeing that initiative and from the task force looking at strategic planning and wellness.

The superintendent’s report will include an update about 2025 Warrant Articles, the Elm Street School traffic project and a recent monitoring of Laconia High School and the Huot Career & Technical Center by the state’s Department of Education.

Board members are expected to discuss, and will have the opportunity to take action on, a health insurance proposal, a heating and cooling system project at Woodland Heights School, an update to the district’s school meal policy and the search to replace Superintendent Bob Champlin, who is contracted through the 2025-26 school year.

School board meetings are open to the public and there are opportunities for attendees to comment.
