More than two dozen Meredith business and community leaders joined Belknap Family Health staff members and officials from LRGHealthcare yesterday for the ground breaking ceremony of what will become the Inter-Lakes Medical Center in on Daniel Webster Highway (Rte. 3) in Meredith sometime next summer.

The new 12,000-square-foot medical facility will be located right next to the existing center. The latter has been providing the residents of the greater Meredith area with primarily care for more than 40 years.

In addition to providing primary medical care, the new Inter-Lakes Medical Center will provide the LRGHealthcare physical therapy, occupational therapy, and laboratory services that currently occupy the ground floor of the existing building.

The new center will also provide state-of-the-art medical imaging services which will allow off-site radiologists and other specialists to read x-rays and other images almost instantly, thereby avoiding the potential need for patient travel to the hospital in Laconia. There will also be sufficient space in the new center to house some specialty medical services.

“We are very excited about this new facility and the expansion of services here. We are grateful for the support of the providers and staff, our partners in this project, and the Meredith community,” said LRGHealthcare President & CEO Tom Clairmont. “This practice was started by Drs. J.S. Vazifdar and Tom Nadeau many years ago. We are fortunate that they had the foresight to know that this practice would need to grow. Dr. Nadeau purchased the properties surrounding the original building. His doing so enabled us to do what we are doing today. Over the years, we have added a number of other services here, and now we have an opportunity to expand those even further. I look forward to the new Inter-Lakes Medical Center making a real contribution to this community and area.”
