Hall Memorial Library earned most creative float in the Tilton-Northfield Old Home Day Parade on Saturday. The parade, hosted by the Tilton and Northfield Old Home Day Committee, featured a Hawaiian luau theme. The library's float boasted an 8-foot tall volcano made of cardboard, and used fog and bubble machines to make it look active. Staff constructed the float Friday morning. The parade started at Compass Classical Academy in Northfield and continued through downtown Tilton to end at Pines Park in Northfield. The library's float promoted their Raven Gael Blaisdell Foundation, which sponsors the summer reading program. The foundation was formed to encourage local youth to embrace reading and explore literature. The Old Home Day committee also hosted a variety of events from 11 a.m. to dusk, with food available. The celebration ended with fireworks over the river.
