Dick, as anyone who has boated under the Mosquito Bridge over Lake Winnisquam knows, loves Peg. Or so declares the graffiti sprayed on the concrete under the bridge. One person, who started a thread about it in a neighborhood social media group, said it dates back to the early 1970s. Another person, who works at a nearby marina, said it's been there as long as anyone could remember. DOX on Winnisquam has a cocktail named after the artwork. The owner of a nearby market said he's considered printing "Dick Loves Peg" on a T-shirt — and reversing the order of the names on the shirt's back. What's the real backstory behind the enduring message of love? A reporter was not able to get to the bottom of it before press time — but if you have any clues for us, let us know.
