MOULTONBOROUGH — A damaged pipe discovered Sunday morning caused minor damage to several classrooms at Moultonborough Academy.

Water damage is expected to be remediated by Thursday, Superintendent Patrick Andrew said on Tuesday afternoon.

A pipe in the ceiling and exterior wall of the biology lab at Moultonborough Academy broke on Sunday and, though not confirmed, it’s suspected ice was the culprit. Three classrooms got wet and had minor water damage to the bottom 3 inches of the wall.

They’ve got some 40 fans and dehumidifiers running in the affected classrooms, which are expected to be back in use later this week.

“Fortunately, there were some people meeting here on Sunday who caught it,” Andrew said. “We should be back in business on Thursday.”

New England Water Remediation of Laconia responded to the school within about 90 minutes. Primex, an insurance company, was at the school on Tuesday to assess the condition of the classrooms following the damage.

“It’s pretty dry now,” Andrew said. “I don’t think it’s going to be an expensive fix.”
