LACONIA — Police are investigating a possible case of road rage on Friday.

Police Chief Matt Canfield said one driver felt another motorist was tail-gating as both vehicles were traveling north on Union Avenue in Lakeport.

Moments after one of the drivers called police to complain an officer patrolling the area was able to intercept the two vehicles and stop them in the vicinity of Irwin Marine.

One driver said the other had pointed a gun at him. However, Canfield said police soon determined that the driver had gestured with a cell phone and not a firearm.

Canfield said both drivers were interviewed by police, and both agreed to allow police to search their respective vehicles.

The chief said it was too early to say whether charges would be filed in connection with the incident.
