GILFORD — A fatal car accident closed Gilford Avenue Thursday afternoon and into the evening near the intersection of Gunstock Hill and Hoyt roads for an investigation involving town and state police.
Reports from the scene said the Belknap County Accident Reconstruction Team as well as an investigator from the state medical examiner's office were on site Thursday afternoon following the crash.Â
Police are investigating a motor vehicle collision that resulted in two fatalities around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, according to a media release sent Thursday. Gilford fire and police departments responded to the scene and transported several victims to Concord Hospital-Laconia to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Two victims died at the hospital.
Identification of victims has not yet been made, pending notification to family members.Â
Gilford police are receiving assistance in the investigation from the Laconia Police Department, state police and the Gilford Department of Public Works, according to the media release.
