PLYMOUTH — An Ashland man was charged after driving the wrong way down Interstate-93 and injuring four people, State Police say.

State Troopers from the Troop F and Troop E Barracks responded to a report of a crash between two vehicles on the offramp of I-93 northbound at 8:15 p.m. on Monday.

Through a preliminary investigation police learned the driver of a 2020 Subaru Outback, later identified as Jason Buttrick, 33, of Ashland, was traveling the wrong way on the offramp and collided head-on with another vehicle which had three occupants.

He apparently fled the scene on foot before troopers arrived, but was later located and apprehended. Buttrick and three occupants of the other vehicle were transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Buttrick is charged with felony reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence, driving under the influence second offense, operating after suspension of driving privileges and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also cited with a violation for reckless operation of a vehicle.

He was released on bail and is scheduled for arraignment in Plymouth District Court on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by members of the Plymouth Police Department, Plymouth Fire & Rescue, and Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or who has information that may assist the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Rees Davis at 603-846-3333 or Rees.G.Davis@DOS.NH.GOV.
