Shark Saturday was Aug. 8, at Meredith Public Library. "Shark conservationist Thalassa Silver provided an informative shark view graph presentation and hard copy charts for perusal. A big hit, especially for the children, a hardcopy handout chart showing/identifying various sharks teeth, plus everyone got to take home a real shark's tooth," wrote Sharon E. Fifteen friends, most well into their 70s, celebrate after completing the first Lake Opechee “Go Slow” Triathlon, which consisted of a 16-mile bike ride, 2-mile kayak paddle, and a short swim to the Driftwood Beach raft, according to Sarah Davis, who shared this photo last week. "The event concluded with a potluck luncheon, and participation medals engraved 'If you had fun, you won,'” Davis wrote.

“This week, representatives from the Department of Historic Resources and Land and Community Heritage Program visited the Colonial Theatre. Don’t worry, everyone made it past the dragon. Want to see the dragon too? Come out and see ‘Shrek the Musical,’” wrote Joia Hughes, director of economic and housing development in Laconia, in an email on Wednesday. The departments of NH Division of Historical Resources and Land and Community Heritage Investment Program were in tow since previously granted funds that were used to renovate the theater. She credits the American Legion with helping Brown prioritize his health so he could celebrate America250.

The New. Hampshire Veterans Home, in Tilton, celebrated U.S. Army World War II veteran Joe Mack on his 102nd birthday, on July 19. Home staff hosted a party for the guest of honor that included Mack’s family, fellow resident comrades, staff, and volunteers. “Joe Mack’s life reflects a century of service, resilience, and dedication. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he answered the nation’s call during World War II and has continued to inspire those around him through his patriotism, humility, and enduring spirit,” wrote Sarah Stanley, public information officer for the New Hampshire Veterans Home on July 20.

They put the pews back in place. The adults and boys were polite, hard workers. We are so thankful they did this for us.”
