One Jeopardy! contestant blew everyone else out of the water with a huge runaway win. Finding and correctly answering all three Daily Doubles helped them to take the lead.

Chris D’Angelo, from Washington, D.C., returned for his seventh game on May 28. He entered with a six-day total of $124,201.

On Thursday, the content manager played against Ken Bloom, from Lincoln, Nebraska, and Ariel Epstein, from Bell Mead, New Jersey. Did D’Angelo keep his streak going, or was he beaten out by one of his opponents? Warning: Spoilers for the May 28 episode of Jeopardy! ahead!

D’Angelo and Epstein, an executive research director, went back and forth for the lead by the first 15 clues. They both got one wrong, but D’Angelo came out on top with $4,200 compared to Epstein’s $3,200.

D’Angelo tried to extend his lead when he found the Daily Double on clue 17. He had $5,000 and went all-in.

The clue in “Erring” was “Oh boy, where to start? This ancient Egyptian placed the Earth at the center of the universe & said astrology was a legitimate science.” “Who is Ptolemy?” he answered correctly, giving him $10,000.

Incorrect responses from Epstein and Bloom, a physics professor, led D’Angelo to have a wider lead going into Double Jeopardy. D’Angelo had $11,800. Epstein was in second place with $3,600. Bloom had $1,600.

D’Angelo got to $17,800 in Double Jeopardy, not allowing his opponents to answer any, when he found the first DD on clue five. He had $27,800 and wagered $2,200.

The clue in “Alliterature” was: “Regarding this title location, Anne Shirley remarks, ‘Just as soon as I saw it I felt it was home.'” He was correct with, “What is Anne of Green Gables?” This gave him $20,000.

Aside from two Triple Stumpers, D’Angelo answered every question from clue five to clue nine, where he found the last DD. He had $21,600 and wagered $1,600 in “Jobs.”

The clue read, “You don’t need pilot training for this job, but you need to pass the ATSA, an exam administered by the FAA.” “What is an Air Traffic Controller?” D’Angelo answered with uncertainty. He was right, bringing his total up to $23,200.

After that, Epstein answered three clues in a row correctly and one incorrectly. There were two Triple Stumpers between D’Angelo’s rapid-fire answers. Bloom then stepped in and answered five clues correctly.

D’Angelo ended with a whopping $34,000. Epstein was still in second place with $7,200. Bloom had $5,200.

“Latin Phrases” was the category for Final Jeopardy. The clue read, “An 1863 Congressional ‘Act relating to’ this was decried in the press as a ‘bill to appoint a dictator.'”

All three game show contestants had the correct answer of habeus corpus. Bloom wagered $5,000 and ended with $10,200. Epstein wagered $3,201, giving her $10,401.

D’Angelo’s wager of $16,000 brought him up to $50,000. He had a seven-day total of $174,201. D’Angelo will return on Friday for his eighth game.
