MEREDITH — Sarah Burke Tautkus, 92, of Upper Mile Point Drive, passed away on Oct. 23, 2024, at Meredith Bay Colony Club.
Sarah was born on May 15, 1932, in Buffalo, New York. Sarah was the fourth of eight children born to the late William Burke, MD, and Lucille (Mitchell) Burke.
Sarah was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother and relished the time she spent with her family, grandchildren (11), and great-grandchildren (five). Sarah loved all her family unconditionally. She and her beloved predeceased husband, Charles S. Tautkus, were dedicated volunteers at the Manchester Soup Kitchen.
Sarah especially enjoyed her work as a dental office assistant at Lindner Dental Associates in Bedford for over 20 years.
Sarah and her family have fond memories of their family vacations and visits to Buffalo, New York, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and Gilford, to be with relatives.
Sarah is survived by her sons, Gerard “Gerry” Tautkus and his wife Siobhan, of Laconia, Jim Tautkus and his wife Barbara, of York, Pennsylvania, and Charles “Chick” Tautkus Jr., and his wife Erin Hattan, of Laconia; and daughters Mary Winslow and her husband Matt, of Newbury, and Ann Hanson and her husband Tighe, of Harwich, Massachusetts. In addition to her parents, Sarah is predeceased by her husband Charles S. Tautkus, daughter Sarah “Sally” Jane Tautkus, and granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Tautkus.
The Tautkus family would like to express their appreciation to all the employees at the Meredith Bay Colony Club in Meredith, where Sarah resided the past six years. They treated Sarah with the love and dignity that she deserved.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, at St. Andre Bessette Parish — Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Ave., Laconia.
Graveside burial will be held at a future date at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen.
