MaryAnn “Mary” Embree, 85, passed away peacefully on Sept. 25, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida, surrounded by her beloved husband, children, their spouses, and grandchildren.

Mary was born on Feb. 22, 1939, in Framingham, Massachusetts. She was the cherished daughter of the late Victor and Marie LeCourt. She lived a life marked by devotion to her family and service to her country and communities.

After graduating high school in Franklin, she joined the U.S. Navy where she served with honor and distinction. After the Navy, Mary worked as a children’s aide at a local home day care center in the early 1970s. Mary owned and operated “The Under Seven” shop in Franklin, a young children’s toy and clothing store. She also worked in the clerical field for Spaulding Youth Center, Grappone Auto, and for her husband Doug at his real estate business before retiring to Fernandina Beach, Florida, where she was a regular attendee and a beloved member of St. Michael Church.

Mary was a pillar of strength and support to her family. Described by those who knew her as a wonderful mother and wife, Mary’s presence was a source of comfort and guidance. Her wisdom, love, laugh, and unwavering support enriched the lives of many, making her a treasured friend to all those privileged to know her. In retirement, she stayed active and enjoyed taking walks with her beloved dog Sasha.

Mary is survived by her husband, Doug, with whom she shared 49 years of marriage. Mary would tell you that her greatest accomplishment was being the proud mother to her children, Richard Hemmingson (Shirley), LuAnn Speikers (Michael), Tamra Pavelich (Dean), and Sean Embree (Danielle), Corey Embree (predeceased); and her beloved shih tzu dog Sasha. She was also Gram, Grandma, Ma and Gigi to her seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Her unconditional love and unwavering support for them will forever be cherished.

Mary was predeceased by her siblings Rita Stilwell and William LeCourt, as well as her parents, and son Corey Embree.

A private Mass was held on Sept. 27, at St. Michael Church, Fernandina Beach, Florida. A memorial service will be held at St. Gabriel Parish, 110 School St., Franklin, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
