Joel Phelps White, 73, of Boscawen, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by his family and closest friend.

Born on Aug. 14, 1952, in Moultonborough, Joel was the son of Wilmont Sanderson White and Lois (Phelps) White. He carried with him the values of hard work, loyalty, and love of family that defined his life. Joel shared 50 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Linda. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.

He was a proud and devoted father to Gregory (wife Cari), Graham (partner Melanie), Cameron, and Brandon (wife Caitlin). Nothing brought Joel greater joy than being “Bumpa” to his cherished grandchildren: Cecelia; Liam and Cavin; Wilmont, Oliver, and Myles; and Sienna and Claire. His grandchildren were his pride and greatest blessing, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

Joel is survived by his brother Jeffery, and was predeceased by his sister Jennifer.

Professionally, Joel began his career as a management recruiter before transitioning into education administration, where he dedicated himself to supporting students, educators and school communities. He brought integrity, fairness and compassion to his work.

Joel found his greatest peace outdoors. Whether biking, kayaking, camping, golfing, or simply working in his yard, he felt most at home in nature. He was a loyal and passionate fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and Boston Red Sox, rarely missing a game and always ready to discuss a play. He also gave back to his community as both a coach and official, mentoring athletes and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.

Above all, Joel will be remembered for his steady presence, his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, and the example he set through his actions. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled and the lives he touched.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, with a service to follow from 4 to 5 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Home, 172 King St., Boscawen.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joel’s memory to ICB Basketball, P.O. Box 6574, Penacook, NH 03303.
