MEREDITH — Evelyn M. Firth, 92, passed away surrounded by her family on Nov. 2, 2026.
She was born in Gilmanton Iron Works, to the late Lizzie and David Bickford on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1934, at the Bickford Farm.
She was an acclaimed artist. She loved painting and opened her own studio where she taught at least 50 students over the years, mostly senior citizens.
She worked in various local printing companies including John Bancroft’s press. She then worked for Lerman Press for about five years. She was their general manager for three of those years. She then went to work at Concord Litho as an assistant quality control manager. It was her responsibility to be certain everything being printed was top quality.
She saw an ad for a real estate class starting and signed up. She passed the salesman license. She opened her own business in her old art studio and named it Stage Run Properties, running it several years and making a comfortable living.
In Oct. 20, 2010, she met the love of her life, William Firth. On Jan. 29, 2011, they were married. They happily lived in Gunstock Acres in Gilford, for many years before moving to Meredith Center. She lost her husband William in 2025.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Alicia Chase, and husband Thomas Chase; grandchildren Breinn Daigneault and her husband Thomas Daigneault, Aaron Kirk and his wife Tammy, Shawn Morrison and his wife Allison; and great-grandchildren Lydia Jordan, Brodie Kirk, Ashtyn Kirk and Brianna Morrison. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
