MEREDITH — Daniel J. Benjamin; 50, of Meredith, NH passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 2, 2009 in Center Harbor, NH. He was born in Cowansville, Quebec on May 27, 1958; son of Florian Benjamin and Louise (Laliberté) Benjamin.

Daniel was a resident of Meredith for the last five years previously residing in Manchester, NH. He was self employed as a contractor, and also served his country as a Private in the United States Army.

He was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan, enjoying fishing, playing pool, horseshoes, camping, and hockey. He was a member of the Meredith American Legion Post 33.

Besides his parents, Daniel is survived by two sons, Patrick Benjamin and his girlfriend Laura Langlois of Pembroke NH, and Nicholas Benjamin of Pembroke, NH; his girlfriend Patricia Coveney of Meredith, NH; a brother; Claude Benjamin and his wife Christine of Moultonborough, NH; a sister Joane Dion and her husband Marc of Derry, NH, and Patrick’s and Nicholas's mother Leza Childs of Pembroke, NH; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover Street, Manchester, NH. A memorial service will take place in the funeral home at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Daniel’s name to The American Legion, 6 Plymouth Street, Meredith, NH 03253.
