BELMONT — Carl E. Jewett, 80, of South Road, Belmont died at the Lakes Region General Hospital, Laconia on Sunday, October 31, 2004. Mr. Jewett was born September 24, 1924 in Plainfield, Conn., the son of Charles H. and Anna J (Edman) Jewett. He served in the U. S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Jewett lived in Belmont for most of his life and worked as a tool and die maker at N. H. Ballbearing
and Scott & Williams.
Mr. Jewett was a blood donor for the American Red Cross for many years, donating 17 gallons throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed woodworking, caning chairs and refinishing furniture. He also enjoyed working with stained glass.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Betty? (Marden) Jewett of Belmont; two sisters, Beatrice Cleveland of Wolfeboro, and Anna Esty of Danbury; and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a brother, Roger Jewett, in 1999.
A Calling Hour will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the Carriage House of the Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia. Following the calling hour at 2:00 p.m., a funeral service will be held also at the Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Crook, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Belmont, will officiate. Burial will follow at the family lot in South Road Cemetery, Belmont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Greater White Mountain Chapter, American Red Cross, 21 Lyford Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
