FRANKLIN — Beverly B. Freeman, 90, of Franklin, died Thursday, May 5, 2022. She passed in the comfort and familiarity of her own home, and in the company of those she loved.
Bev was born in York, ME, September 10, 1931, to Herbert and Bernice (Sheldon) Bracy and was a graduate of York High School, Class of 1950. Bev met the love of her life, Conrad Freeman, while in junior high and they became a couple during their freshman year of high school. Conrad joined the Navy in the spring of 1951 and the couple wed after boot camp on June 30th of 1951.
Bev and Conrad welcomed their first child, Guy, in Kittery, ME, in 1953. Guy was followed by Mike, born in York, ME, in 1955, Peter, born in Barrington, RI, in 1957, and finally Russ, born in Concord, in 1961. The family of six went on to enjoy countless camping trips across New England between 1964 and 1975 before purchasing a summer cottage on Northwood Lake in New Hampshire in 1978. The cottage years spirited in the next chapter of the Freeman family, welcoming four beloved daughters-in-law, six cherished grandchildren, and a wealth of happy memories.
After selling their condo in Milford, the Northwood Lake cottage became Bev and Conrad’s permanent home until they retired in 1995 and 1997, respectively. Upon retirement, they were able to enjoy the fruits of a lifetime of hard work and began splitting their time each year, summering at the cottage and wintering in Vero, FL, through 2001. Bev and Conrad shared almost 55 happy years before Conrad’s passing in March of 2006.
Bev is survived by her children, Guy and wife Norene of Kennebunk, ME, Mike and wife Brenda of Franklin, Peter and wife Karen of Kensington, and Russ and wife Darlene of Concord; as well as her six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service being held Thursday, May 19, 5:00 p.m. at Phaneuf Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 172 King Street in Boscawen, NH, followed by a reception at Alan’s of Boscawen.
Bev will join her beloved husband at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at a later date.
