BELMONT — Barbara Jean (née Daconto) Chapman, of Belmont, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away on June 17, 2026, at the age of 73.
Barbara was born on April 22, 1953, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Angelo Daconto Sr. and Estelle (née Charity) Daconto.
Barbara is leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a heart big enough to hold everyone she cared for. She was a native of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and retired bookkeeper.
Barbara moved through life with a rare blend of wit and sensitivity. She loved to laugh and had tenderness that made her a steady source of support for those lucky enough to know her. She showed up in the best way she could, offering her time, her heart, her honesty, and her ear — always giving what she had to give.
Her competitive spirit was legendary within the family. Whether she was playing marbles with fierce determination or turning a simple card game into a full-blown championship, Barbara played with joy, fire, and a twinkle in her eye that said she was absolutely planning to win.
Barbara enjoyed her doll collection and crocheting — from her whimsical fairies to her delicate bookmarks and everything in between. Her creations carried her warmth, her patience, and the quiet joy she found in making something beautiful with her own hands.
Above all, Barbara loved her family with a depth that shaped every part of her life. She was endlessly proud of her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, cheering them on, and staying involved in their lives as best she could. Her love for them was steady, fierce, and unwavering — a constant they could always count on.
Her presence was a gift, her love a constant, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who were touched by her life.
Barbara is survived by her husband Dennis Chapman; children Jeff (Marquetta) Aliberti of Kentucky, Scott (Marcia) Aliberti of Connecticut, Todd (Michelle) Chapman of New Hampshire, and Paul (Cheryl) Chapman of New Hampshire; grandchildren Jaden, Reese, Tatum, Shelby, Sydni and Morgan; brother Angelo Daconto of Tennessee; sisters Linda (Massimo) Esposito of Tennessee, and Cindy (Rory) O’Neill of Tennessee; uncle Lou Daconto of Maine; and a number of step-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara is predeceased by her brothers Louis and Dean.
