LACONIA — Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative will host auditions for its spring musical, "Tuck Everlasting," for ages 6 through senior citizen on Sunday, Feb. 18. "Tuck Everlasting" is based on Natalie Babbitt’s children’s book of the same name and is set in the fictional Tree Gap, New Hampshire, making this a musical sure to connect with local audiences.
The show will be presented May 10-12 at the Colonial Theatre. The company is looking for a wide range of ages of performers and also a non-singing dance ensemble that will be challenged to do more complicated lyrical/ballet-style routines. For more information and to register and prepare for auditions, visit powerhousenh.org/auditions. Note the role of Winnie Foster is already cast and will be played by Maci Johnson, who has starred in Powerhouse’s "The Secret Garden" as Mary and in "Seussical" as Jojo.
The production team includes Bryan Halperin as director, Christine Chiasson as music director and Meg King as assistant director/choreographer. Says Halperin, “When I saw the Broadway production of 'Tuck Everlasting,' I knew it was one I’d direct someday. It’s a fun and life-affirming musical with tons of heart, and the last 10 minutes of the show is one of the most unique musical endings I’ve ever seen. I can’t wait to see what our choreographer comes up with for that.”
The 2024 Colonial Series is sponsored by Grappone Mazda and Bank of New Hampshire. The Powerhouse Season is sponsored by Meredith Village Savings Bank, Lavalley/Middleton Building Supply and The Platinum Group. The performance is sponsored by The Laconia Daily Sun.
