MOULTONBOROUGH — Artist Jaylene Bengtson will offer a demonstration on Thursday, Sept. 30, at Moultonborough Public Library, at 5 p.m. The art demonstration is part of an exhibit, Expressive Art A Therapeutic Experience, on display Sept. 16-30.
Bengtson will talk about expressive art as a therapeutic experience culminating in a participatory art experience. The “Our Many Faces” mask making workshop will have pre-formed masks provided by the artist along with prompts and materials for elaboration.
Bengtson primarily works in painting, drawing, mixed media and mask making. She explores the complex layers of experience through a combination of color, line and symbolism, both real and surreal. With a doctorate in expressive art, she uses representation and non-objective imagery to convey emotion, inviting the viewer to find a connection with their own personal journey, whatever the path and wherever it takes them.
Bengtson’s artwork can be purchased from the artist on night of the event. The exhibit is part of the Meet the Artist Series, a presentation of the Lakes Center for the Arts, LakesCenterforArts.org.
The Moultonborough Public Library is at 4 Holland St. For hours, visit Moultonboroughlibrary.org. Admission is free and open to the public.
