CONCORD — Granite VNA, formerly Concord Regional VNA and Central NH VNA & Hospice, has named Christopher Allen, MD, as its first Chief Medical Officer. In this new role, Dr. Allen will supervise the agency’s provider team, support strategic initiatives and operations, and will collaborate with Capital Region Palliative Care. He will also continue to practice at Epsom Family Medicine and to serve in various roles at Concord Hospital.
In addition to his practice, Dr. Allen, a board-certified family medicine physician, also serves as medical director of the primary care department at Concord Hospital where he provides clinical supervision and support for multiple practices and participates in the direction, management, and planning of primary care operations for Concord Hospital Medical Group. He is president-elect of Concord Hospital Medical staff and a board member with the New Hampshire Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Allen has served as a per diem physician for Granite VNA’s hospice program since 2014. As a per diem physician, he provided hospice care and served as acting medical director in the absence of the full-time hospice medical director.
Dr. Allen obtained his medical training in New Hampshire. He graduated from Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover and completed his residency with the New Hampshire-Dartmouth Family Medicine Program in Concord. Dr. Allen graduated from The Dartmouth Institute in Lebanon with a Master of Public Health and completed his Leadership Preventive Medicine Residency in Lebanon and Concord.
Dr. Allen will assume the chief medical officer role at Granite VNA on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
