BELMONT — At the Belmont High School Awards night on Friday, June 9, the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation Board President Mike Nolan represented the Foundation along with Board Vice President Donna Hennessy. Hennessy offered a brief address to the graduates and their families and closed her remarks cheering all of the students present with a rousing “Go Raiders!”
There were a number of LRSF donors present to make presentations at the Belmont awards. So many scholarship funds are memorials set up by families when a loved one passes or by individuals in advance of their death. Each memorial tells the story of a special person. Someone who is no longer with us, but is still helping those they have left behind. One in particular was a new award this year, started in honor of Vincent Ladd. Ladd passed away in 1985 during his junior year at Belmont High School. This year, a scholarship was established in his name by family and friends in memory of a bright young man who loved chorus and music, his Faith and helping others. More than 30 years later, this young man is still remembered fondly and now his story will go forward to a student of a new generation at Ladd’s high school.
The following is the list of the Belmont High School graduates who received scholarship awards through thefoundation this year, as well as former BHS graduates who received 2017 awards from LRSF as upperclassmen.
