Amy Burke awarded NH Scholars Champion Award

BELMONT — The New Hampshire Scholars program recently honored Amy Burke, school-to-career coordinator at Belmont High School, with its NH Scholars Champion Award. The award is in recognition of her leadership in workforce and career development for many years in the Lakes Region. Burke has worked closely with the business community building partnerships and opportunities for her students to receive hands-on training and internship positions which have allowed her students to grow and succeed in their chosen careers.

Burke has also been a strong leader and supporter of the 200 x 2020 workforce development collaborative which seeks to engage 200 businesses with local students by 2020.

"Amy is innovative, creative, and a joy to work with. She is a champion of Belmont’s local students and business community in every way," Justin Slattery, director of the Belknap Economic Development Council, said.

NH Scholars currently oversees more than 400 business volunteers who actively give their time to help public high schools in New Hampshire, through job shadowing, internships and mentoring. New Hampshire Scholars is coordinated through a partnership between the New Hampshire College and University Council, Campus Compact for New Hampshire and the New Hampshire Department of Education. New Hampshire Scholars is part of the National State Scholars Initiative Network.
