LACONIA — Laconia Adult Education is offering free basic math, reading and HISET preparation classes on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

The classes are designed for people who need to improve their math and reading skills and eventually work toward a HISET Certificate or high school diploma, explained Peggy Selig, Adult Education program director.

On Tuesday and Thursday nights, Reading Comprehension Classes cover the subject areas of science, social studies and literature which are prerequisites for the HISET test. Math skills are also reviewed covering the subject areas of basic math, fractions, decimals, measurement, geometry and algebra functions.

The classes are individualized. Each student progresses at his or her own pace. There are no tests and there is no fear of failing.

Those wishing to enroll in the free reading, math and HISET classes may call the Laconia Adult Education Office at 524-5712 or stop by the Adult Education Office in Room 805 at Laconia High School.
