MEREDITH – The Winnipesaukee Playhouse’s Professional Company recently opened its production of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first Broadway musical, “In the Heights.” The production continues through Sunday, Sept. 1, in Meredith.

The production is directed and choreographed by Bryan Knowlton whose career includes starring on Broadway in the most recent revival of “A Chorus Line” to appearing in multiple national tours, film, and television. His credits at the Winnipesaukee Playhouse include “Cabaret” and “Chicago” as choreographer as well as directing and choreographing 2018’s “Mamma Mia.” Knowlton said his experience as a first-generation Latino American has helped fuel his love of this piece and the process of creating it.

“In the Heights” tells the story of a vibrant Latinx community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood. Full of energetic music and choreography, it depicts a community on the brink of change, full of hopes, dreams and pressures.
