SANBORNTON — Sanbornton Historical Society looks forward to the upcoming months' activities. The society is saddened by the loss of two past presidents, Evelyn Auger and Vicki Abbott, and offers condolences to their families. Their strong work for SHS's behalf will be remembered with gratitude and admiration they will truly be missed.

The society's needs continue, and among them — increased members' participation. Officers and board members are needed, along with tour guides.

The Thursday, Oct. 12 annual meeting is for electing, accepting responsibilities and the rewards of this work in this little town, historic in so many ways. Interested? Let the society know. Call Linda, vice president.

The society recently contracted for Currier Building's scraping and painting. Dangerous trees were removed in the backyard. The society can use landscaping help with intrusive sumac/knotweed out back. Volunteer gardeners? The society plans to contract for brickwork on the walks. Already a good chunk of reserves was spent on the painter and the tree work. Coffers need replenishing. The society set a recent fundraising goal of $8,000. Supportive donations and membership, membership renewals are needed and welcome. Let's keep Lane Tavern handsome and sturdy. Donate online or at P.O. Box 204, Sanbornton, 03269.

Upcoming: Dr. Dan Heyduk on Sept. 14, with Pemigewasset River Valley history, 7 p.m.; Oct. 12, annual SHS meeting at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments, 7 p.m. meeting, electing, and sharing attic treasures; Saturday, Dec. 2, Holiday Fair including wreath sales and pick-up.
