PLYMOUTH – Plymouth State University will host the reading of the Eagle Pond Authors’ Series on Tuesday, March 25, at 7 p.m. Poet and educator Matthew Olzmann will read from his poetry collections, “Constellation Route,” “Contradictions in the Design and Mezzanines,” along with selections of his newer work.
Olzmann’s work, which explores themes of place, identity, faith and finding connections between apparently dissimilar things, has been featured in a variety of literary journals and magazines, including The New York Times, Best American Poetry, Pushcart Prizes, Kenyon Review, and others.
“Matthew Olzmann’s poetry is that rare thing that embraces complication while, at every turn, filling us with wonder,” said award-winning poet and author C. Dale Young in his review of “Contradictions in the Design.” “Prepare yourself to be dazzled.”
Olzmann is an assistant professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College and teaches the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College. He is the poetry editor of the Collagist and in 2012 was the Joan Beebe Teaching Fellow at Warren Wilson College. Olzmann is a recipient of fellowships from Kundiman, MacDowell, Kresge Arts Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts.
