LACONIA — Powerhouse Theatre Collaborative, the resident theater company of The Colonial Theatre in Laconia, is accepting video submissions for its first two 2027 programs, “More In Love with Broadway” and the Power Surge Cabaret series.
“More In Love With Broadway” is a follow-up to Powerhouse’s 2024 musical concert “In Love with Broadway.” Back by popular demand, Powerhouse is looking for people who love singing musical theater songs to audition for this production scheduled for Feb. 12-14, Valentine’s Day weekend. The company will be joined by the Power Chords Broadway show choir for a production showcasing the vocal talent in the community.
The song list has been curated by Powerhouse vets Joel and Laura Iwaskiewicz, and will be directed by Powerhouse founder Bryan Halperin.
“We had such an amazing time working on ‘In Love with Broadway’ and got so many requests from our participants to do something similar, that it was a no brainer to put this on the schedule in 2027. This is a great way for newcomers to get involved with the group,” Halperin said.
Audition submissions are due by Sunday, Nov. 15.
New for 2027, Powerhouse is starting a cabaret series called The Power Surge Cabaret, which will feature a rotating group of singers performing at Taylor Community in quarterly concerts. The series is led by Emma Molloy, who joined Powerhouse in the 2024 production of “In Love with Broadway,” and has been a regular ever since. Video submissions for this group will be ongoing throughout the year. To be considered for the Jan. 21 series debut, submissions should be received by Dec. 1.
And for those who love singing showtunes, the Power Chords Broadway show choir starts a new session in January. All adults are welcome, with no auditions. Power Chords session I participants will perform in “More In Love with Broadway.”
